We are excited to announce the Sureify Life Insurance and Annuity Startup Innovation Award that will take place during the Life insurance & Annuity Ecosystem Summit at ITC Vegas on October 15th! As part of the 2024 Summit, Sureify will present the first annual Life Insurance & Annuity Startup Innovation Award to recognize and celebrate cutting-edge technology focused on solving challenges faced by the life and annuity Industry.
Startups are invited to apply for consideration, and selected finalists will have the opportunity to showcase their innovations on the Sureify Life Insurance and Annuity Ecosystem Summit stage in front of industry experts. Our panel of evaluators will select one standout Startup, while the audience will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite.
We are looking for early-stage companies that can clearly demonstrate and articulate their passion for reimagining life insurance and annuities. Our goal is to recognize the next generation of technology developers that will change how life insurers meet modern expectations.

Chad Hersh is currently leading AWS’ market development for life insurance/pensions/group benefits carriers globally.
Prior to this he was leading the L&A/Group Benefits practice for Capgemini in North America and the UK. He was formerly Executive Vice President at Majesco, a leading provider of core insurance systems, where he led the life and group benefits businesses globally and worked on strategic direction for property/casualty. Previously he was a Managing Director within Novarica’s insurance research practice and a senior analyst at Celent.
Past roles include serving as the e-Business Director for AIG American General (AIG Domestic Life), where he built and managed the e-business department for the domestic life insurance division, and several years in IT and management consulting.
Dan McCoach

Dan is a Managing Director and co-leader in our L&A Insurance practice with more than twenty-five years of combined Industry and Advisory experience. Prior to joining Deloitte, he was a founding Partner and CIO for Nassau Financial Group where he consolidated and transformed the technologies and operations for the acquisitions that formed the company. He has led multiple transformations as both an Insurance CIO and as an Advisor with a proven record of success and business results. Dan has deep subject matter expertise in L&A core systems including allowing him to bring real-world, hands-on experience to Deloitte’s clients.

Karen Monks is a Principal Analyst in Celent’s North American insurance practice. She brings a broad range of consulting experience to her work. She worked as a management consultant for ten years prior to joining Celent working in continuous improvement and business process management with a focus on how technology can improve operational processes. She has been with Celent for fourteen years, seven of which she ran Celent’s Knowledge Management Center supporting the firm’s vendor solution evaluation research.
Ms. Monks’ research concentrates on life insurance technology and trends, specifically around new business including illustrations, eApplications, eSignature, and new business and underwriting systems as well as back office policy administration, distribution management, and claims systems. Her most recent research focuses on the digital enablement of life insurance agents and distribution channels.
Kartik Sakthivel

As chief information officer for LIMRA and LOMA, Kartik Sakthivel is responsible for developing the information technology strategic direction for the enterprise. In this capacity, he directs and manages computing and information technology policies, programs and schedules for business and enterprise systems, and manages information services to meet LIMRA and LOMA’s corporate goals and objectives. An industry thought leader, Sakthivel champions the use of technology to improve the revenue, profitability, and efficiency of the organization.
Joining LIMRA and LOMA in 2017, Sakthivel has broad industry experience, most recently as director of technology at Liberty Mutual Insurance. He holds a Doctorate in Computer Science, with a focus on AI, a Master of Science in computer information systems/information technology, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Southern New Hampshire University.
Ken Leibow

As Founder and Chief Executive Officer at InsurTech Express, Ken brings more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, with an extensive background in insurance technology for distribution and back office systems. Prior to founding InsurTech Express, Leibow worked for Genworth Financial, Mutual of Omaha, and as vice president of operations at Diversified Underwriters. As Chief Operating Officer of Integrated Insurance Technologies, Ken built the largest life insurance data exchange hub in the industry, processing over one million life policies per year and $30 billion of annuities (now owned by Oracle, Inc.). Ken has won over 18 industry leadership awards.

Samantha Chow is the VP, global market lead for life, annuity, & benefits with Capgemini, bringing 25 years of experience in the life insurance, annuity, and benefits industry. She has deep expertise in product development, pricing strategies, competitive intelligence, operational process improvement, underwriting, claims, policy administration, and change management. Before joining Capgemini, Mrs. Chow gained her broad career-level expertise from New York Life and AFLAC where she held roles such as corporate vice president of business productivity and innovation and director of research as well as several years serving the industry as an analyst at Aite Group. Mrs. Chow was focused on growing enterprise-wide capabilities for facilitating transformational and cultural change, digital transformation, improving the customer experience, innovation, and competitive advancement. Rounding out her career experience, she spent her last two years focused on technology and supporting the expansion of EIS policy admin platform into the life and annuity market globally.

He specializes in advising insurance clients strategize, plan and execute multi-year technology-enabled business investments focused on achieving growth, efficiency and experience results. In addition, Santosh leads Deloitte’s LifeBox ecosystem – designed to identify and curate L&A/Group vendor technologies. He brings hands on experience assessing, selecting and implementing a variety of L&A/Group InsurTechs. Santosh serves in multiple Deloitte leadership roles as the L&A/Group Insurance Market Intelligence Co-leader, Group Insurance Benchmarking Study Technology Leader and Group Insurance CIO Executive Forum Leader.
